Hondubirding

Hondubirding es básicamente un blog con información extensa sobre la observación de aves en Honduras con sus listados de especies por zona e información de estas, así como una extensa sección fotográfica por cada entrada, haciendo énfasis en la avifauna local hondureña.

El blog comenzó en el año 2006 durante una tarde de ideas a medio camino y casi después de four años, el blog ha madurado y aún sigue con fuerza con posts de vez en cuando, sin olvidar la extensa base de datos que ha sido compilada a través de casi 10 años de pajarear con hondureños y turistas extranjeros.

Hondubirding is basically a birding resource blog for species and hotspots for birding in Honduras. There are travel lists and directions to get to the places and a very extensive photograph section for each post, highlighting the local Honduran avifauna.

The blog came to be in 2006 during an afternoon of freshly half baked ideas, almost four years after the blog has matured and is still going strong with eventual posts, but not forgetting the strong database compiled from our almost 10 years out and about birding with the locals and foreign tourists.

My Utila Life

My Utila Life is a video- and photography-centric blog about life on Treasure Beach, the cays and Utila's beautiful, yet relatively undiscovered southwestern shore. Located four miles from Utila Town and only accessible by boat, Treasure Beach has been my home since 2007. During that time I’ve been involved in the construction of three homes and have played host to vacationers from around the world.

In My Utila Life I discuss the ups and downs of beach front construction and Honduran home ownership, renting vacation homes, scuba diving, nature, my boat, the locals, the gringo's, restaurant reviews, Utila Town, and my travels around the Honduran mainland. Midlife crises for some men involve fast cars and/or an affair with a younger woman, mine involved a slow boat, an incredibly patient wife, and a gorgeous beach, it's my Utila life ......... as I see it.

My Utila Life (Mi vida en Utila) es un Blog centrado en fotografía y vídeo sobre la vida en Treasure Beach (Playa del Tesoro), en los cayos y en la bella y aun poco descubierta costa del sudoeste de Utila. Ubicada a cuatro millas del pueblo de Utila, y accessible solamente por barco, Treasure Island ha sido mi hogar desde el 2007. Durante ese tiempo he estado involucrado en la construcción de tres casas y he sido anfitrión para varios vacacionistas de todo el mundo.

En My Utila Life hablo sobre los altibajos de la construcción frente a la playa y la posesión de propiedad en Honduras, alquiler de casas vacacionales, buceo, naturaleza, mi barco, los lugareños, los gringos, críticas de restaurantes, el Pueblo de Utila y mis viajes en tierra firme hondureña. Para algunos hombres, la crisis de cuarenta incluye coches rápidos, y/o una relación con una mujer mas joven, pero la mía incluyó un barco lento, una esposa increíblemente paciente y una playa magnifica, es mi vida en Utila ......... tal y como yo la veo.

You do not think your life is not challenging enough? You think you’ve got hardships? You do not think you’ve seen it all? Well, if that is the case, come join me and my husband in reliving the challenge of living on a remote island off the coast of Honduras. I will introduce you to the Island of Guanaja, one of a chain of islands known as the Bay Islands in Honduras where there are no roads and travel is by boat, where we are self-sufficient and seem to find new 'challenges' every day from building our own home, to enduring the Hurricane of the Century (Mitch), to the beauty of the flora and fauna and the frustration of mañana! I have covered many topics in my Blog from the ABC’s of Island Living to Random Thoughts to Whales and the hazards of living on a remote island in my “Life Goes On!”

I touch upon a variety of subjects that I hope will be of interest to those reading. I love crafts and cooking and mention them from time to time. I also try to show the beauty of the island and its people.

No crees que tu vida es lo suficientemente dificil? Crees que tienes dificultades? No crees que lo has visto todo? Bueno, si ese es el caso, ven unete a mí y a mi marido en volver a vivir el desafío de vivir en una isla remota de la costa de Honduras. Los introducire a la Isla de Guanaja, una de una cadena de islas en Honduras conocidas como las Islas de la Bahia, donde no hay carreteras, y el viaje es por bote, donde somos autosuficientes y parecemos encontrar nuevos 'retos' todos los días, desde la construcción de nuestra propia casa, aguantar el huracán del siglo (Mitch), la belleza de la flora y la fauna y la frustración o el no saber que pasará mañana! He cubierto muchos temas en mi blog acerca de los ABC de la vida en las islas, pensamientos al azar, las ballenas y los peligros de vivir en una isla remota en el artículo “Life Goes On” (La Vida Continua).

Toco una variedad de temas que espero que sean de interés para quienes lo leen. Me encanta la artesanía y la cocina y la mencióno de vez en cuando. También trato de mostrar la belleza de la isla y su gente.
